Sedbergh School are looking for a graduate to join its two full-time coaches in developing its successful and growing shooting team.
The school are the current holders of the Ashburton Shield and several other national and regional titles. Pupils shoot on the school’s own range, which caters for both 25m smallbore and 10m air rifle, and on fullbore ranges, particularly Altcar and Bisley. Sedbergh pupils have a strong record of international representation and regularly make selection for the UKCRT, Athelings and GB U19. Several former pupils have recently toured with England and Great Britain.
Initially on a one-year fixed-term contract for the academic year 2019-2020, the role may develop for the right candidate into a fully-funded teaching qualification in their subject of expertise for the year 2020-2021, followed by long-term employment as a teacher and coach. In addition to many teachers who have joined the profession through this route, previous GAP graduates have gone on to hold headships and one is currently Deputy Head at the school.
The successful candidate will be paid as an unqualified teacher with all meals and accommodation provided for free, as well as free membership of the NRA and NSRA and entry into several major competitions, including the Imperial Meeting. The school boasts a range of facilities available for staff use including two gyms and a swimming pool.
