Advertisement – CCRS General Secretary

CCRS General Secretary, Mark Pountain, has notified CCRS’s board of trustees of his plans to retire by 31 March 2027.  Applications are now sought from those interested in the role, and panel interviews will be scheduled between 18 and 20 November 2026 for those invited to interview, with a planned start date of early to mid-March 2027 for handover/takeover. The successful candidate will be required to have or undertake security clearance (SC), DBS (Enhanced) and Level 2 safeguarding, and be prepared to be a RFD.

This is a senior level position with regular dealings with the respective commanders and staffs of the UK MOD’s sponsored Cadet Forces, as well as the chief executives of the UK’s shooting National Governing Bodies.  CCRS has a small and mutually supporting executive team, and the successful candidate must be physically fit (the role is physically strenuous at certain times of the year) and an effective, empathetic and all-round team player.   S/he will likely have a UK Armed Forces background, some charitable/volunteer experience with a good understanding of governance, finance and strategic planning.  They will have an interest in competitive sport and target shooting and be committed to helping young people realise their potential.
