Death of Wing Commander George Campbell OBE DL RAFVR(T)

CCRS is deeply saddened to share the announcement of the passing away of one of its trustees, Wing Commander George Campbell OBE DL RAFVR(T), on 9th June 2026 after a valiant fight against illness.

Wing Commander Campbell became a trustee of the Council for Cadet Rifle Shooting in 2009 having served with distinction as the Air Training Corps’ National Shooting Officer and Officer Commanding Marksmanship and Competition Training.  He was a giant of the Cadet Forces’ shooting world, and he made a huge contribution to CCRS both as a board member and as a passionate advocate of competition shooting as a key element of the Cadet Experience.  His friendly but fierce rivalry to beat the Army and Sea Cadets helped to ensure a deep and long-lasting shooting legacy with the Air Cadets, as well as Air Cadets shooting competition success at national and international level, subsequently taken up by Wing Commander Warman and now Wing Commander Oram. CCRS’s sincerest condolences are offered to his family, friends and colleagues.  He will be deeply missed.
