CCRS promotes and organises marksmanship and competitive shooting across the four cadet youth organisations: Combined Cadet Force; Sea Cadet Corps and the Royal Marine Cadets; Army Cadet Force; and the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. This is facilitated through a formal agreement between CCRS and the Ministry of Defence. Basic shooting instruction and training is completed within cadet units. CCRS then organises annual national finals in the disciplines of clay, air, .22, 5.56mm, and 7.62mm / 0.308″. The charity’s competitions cater for around 1500 cadets annually. CCRS is also responsible for the organisation and sponsorship of three international teams – the UK Cadet Rifle Team (Under 17), the British Cadet Rifle Team (Under 18 and known as The Athelings) and the Great Britain Under 19 Rifle Team.
