Farewell
It is with sadness that CCRS passes on the news of the death of Col Bert Cafik RCAC who passed away on 27th January 2025. Bert was Commandant of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets National Rifle Teams (NRT) that competed against the British Cadet Rifle Team (the Athelings) for four years in a row from 1985 to 1988. It was he who proposed the Rex Goddard Match to be competed between the NRT and Athelings annually and donated the Trophy. He was a great friend of CCRS and a tremendous supporter of the Canadian Cadets for many years. He wrote a chapter in the Athelings History book – photo of him with Lt Col Rex Goddard from that book attached.
