Chief Range Officer ISCRM and Senior Planning Officer CISSAM – Role Description and Application

The Inter Services’ Matches Committee (ISMC) is looking for a Commissioned CFAV to act as Chief Range Officer for the Inter Services’ Cadet Rifle Meeting (ISCRM) and Senior Planning Officer for the Cadet Inter Services Skill at Arms Meeting (CISSAM), with the possibility of other ad hoc matches. The successful candidate will have good communications skills and the ability to resolve disputes against a requirement to maintain safety and follow the match rules. The role is for an initial period of five years.

 

    Duties of the role are:

 

Work with ISMC and CCRS to agree the matches and programme of ISCRM and CISSAM. Submit a report on ISCRM and CISSAM at the ISMC meetings. As a member of the ISMC, the CRO is expected to attend one Committee meeting in person (travel expenses paid) and up to two ‘virtual’ Committee meetings per year.

 

Liaise with CCRS to select sufficient numbers of experienced range staff to safely and efficiently run the meetings.

 

During ISCRM:

 

Brief the range staff and team managers.

 

Act as RCO for the meeting: produce a RSD/RASP and safely manage a range involving 500 or more CFAV and cadets over 80 or more targets at three distances; work with the CFAV range staff and civilian chief butts officer to ensure the programme runs to schedule; manage tie shoots where required; resolve technical queries and safety issues.

 

Attend the ISMC daily debrief; raise and resolve queries concerning teams and range staff.

 

During CISSAM:

 

Brief the range staff and team managers.

 

Act as SPO for the meeting: ensure an RSD/RASP is produced for each range; work with the CFAV range staff to ensure the programme runs to schedule; manage tie shoots where required; resolve technical queries and safety issues.

 

Attend the ISMC daily debrief; raise and resolve queries concerning teams and range staff.

 

    Experience and Qualifications.

 

Essential:

 

SA (LR) (07) – Cadets or equivalent range qualified, Senior Planning Officer qualified.

 

Experience in running L81A2 and L98A2 ranges.

 

CFAV Commissioned Officer.

 

Desirable:

 

Experience of ISCRM and CISSAM as range staff.

 

Current or former CFAV shooting role within the cadet service.

 

Skill at Arms Instructor.
